the massive influx of German immigrants to Texas while in the mid-1800s stimulated land product sales in south-central Texas. Johann Theodor Gerfers, his wife Maria, as well as their four children arrived in Texas in 1848. Gerfers ordered the main land (one hundred sixty acres) during the Timberwood region and commenced cattle and sheep ranching. f
